You’re on fire
When did your fire begin? You were born on fire. Your brain cells were dividing, your heart was racing, your blood was streaming even in utero – you were hot even then. But where did your fire come from? You didn’t start the fire. You received the fire from your parents. They received their fire from their parents, and they from theirs going back and back and back to the beginning. Life is a struggle to keep your fire burning bright. Nurture your fire, let it burn pure and true, let your light shine as a blessing to all. Don’t let it get extinguished. Make sure you eat nutrient dense foods that have not been denatured by refining and by added chemicals. Eat organic fresh food. As a general rule eat foods that can go bad, before they go bad. Force your fire to burn hot by exercising so that sweat and extra heat can expel and burn away wastes. Go for nice walks – in the woods or a park if possible. Drink plenty of good water so your slow fire can burn evenly. And get a chiropractic checkup. Chiropractors help keep your energy pathways from being blocked or obstructed so that your “fire’ may flow properly to all your nooks and crannies, to every cell, tissue, organ and system so that you may function at your optimum. Every person should get a chiropractic checkup to ensure that their body is functioning at its peak. Keep your fire burning – see your chiropractor. Sun SafetySun exposure is something we all need. The sun is our primary source of vitamin D, an essential factor that helps us absorb calcium for healthier bones. But unprotected exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can decrease the functioning of our immune system and cause skin & eye damage and cancer. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in Canada and, according to Health Canada, in 2003 alone, an estimated 75,000 Canadians have developed it. Most children get between 50% and 80% of their lifetime sun exposure before the age of 18, therefore practicing sun safety at a young age is Here are some good SUN SAFETY tips to follow: · Avoid being out during peak sun hours between 11:00 am—4:00 pm · Babies are at the greatest risk with sun exposure. Keep all babies < 1 year out of direct sunlight in the shade, under an umbrella or in a stroller with a canopy. Remember to cover those precious little toes!! · Have children wear a wide brimmed hat, making sure face AND neck are covered. · Have children wear long sleeved, tightly woven clothing. If you can see through a fabric, so can the sun. · Use sunscreen liberally anytime a child is in direct sunlight. Apply 1/2 hour before and continuously during sun exposure. Remember to reapply after sporting activities or swimming · Remember to be cautious even on cloudy, cool, or overcast days as UV rays travel through the clouds and reflect off sand, water, and even concrete. Enjoy the summer safely!!!! Orthotics and YouIt’s important to understand your feet have direct impact on the rest of your body and support you with each step. A small abnormality in foot function can have a large impact on joints higher up in the body, c Prescription Orthotics are custom made appliances made to correct your specific foot imbalance. Orthotics work on the feet in much the same way braces work on your teeth – by exerting a gentle consistent pressure to bring foot muscles and bones back into proper alignment. They are always made from custom precise impressions taken from your feet. Orthotics are worn in your shoes with your feet resting comfortably on the orthotics and will place your feet in the proper position for walking, running and standing. When you are running, the pressure on your feet can be three or four times your body weight. Even walking can produce more pressure than the sum of your body weight. The American Podiatric Medical Association says that the average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. That adds up to about Dr. Jen has completed advanced seminar’s in diagnosis and the casting of orthotics. She utilizes The Orthotic Company to construct the orthotics she dispenses. http://www.theorthoticgroup.com/index.html Most insurance companies these days still require a medical referral for orthotic coverage but chiropractor’s are qualified to exam, diagnosis and perform the foam foot impressions to send to the lab that will construct the orthotic. interference, blockages, stresses and imbalances (subluxations) from the body. Scoliosis. A 10-year-old female presented to a private chiropractic practice with a chief complaint of migraine headache and a 35° thoracolumbar scoliosis curve. Chiropractic adjustments were directed to the upper neck (upper cervical) area. The patient received six such adjustments over a period of 25 weeks. A 10° reduction in her scoliosis curve was Otitis media (ear infection), swollen adenoids, nasal congestion, hearing loss and speech difficulties. A 4-year-old boy suffering from otitis media with effusion (middle ear infection), adenoid hypertrophy, nasal congestion, bilateral hearing loss, speech difficulties, developmental delay and behavioural concerns was brought in for chiropractic care. Spinal analysis revealed vertebral subluxations at the upper cervical (neck) and upper thoracic (mid-back) vertebral levels. After 11 chiropractic adjustments including instrument and diversified techniques, a re-evaluation with an ENT physician revealed resolution of otitis media with effusion, no more adenoid swelling and nasal congestion, resolution of hearing loss and improvement of speech, development and behavior. In addition the boy had improved motion in the upper cervical and upper thoracic spine. (7)
HumorQ: Why are many coin banks shaped like pigs? A: Long ago, dishes and cookware in Europe were made of a dense orange clay called ‘pygg’. When people saved coins in jars made of this clay, the jars became known as ‘pygg banks.’ When an English potter misunderstood the word, he made a bank that resembled a pig. And it caught on. Q: Why do men’s clothes have buttons on the right while women’s clothes have buttons on the left? A: When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich. Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid’s right! Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons on the right through holes on the left. And that’s where women’s buttons have remained since. Q. Why do X’s at the end of a letter signify kisses? A: In the Middle Ages, when many people were unable to read or write, documents were often signed using an X. Kissing the X represented an oath to fulfill obligations specified in the document. The X and the kiss eventually became synonymous. Q: Why is shifting responsibility to someone else called ‘passing the buck’? A: In card games, it was once customary to pass an item, called a buck, from player to player to indicate whose turn it was to deal. If a player did not wish to assume the responsibility, he would ‘pass the buck’ to the next player. Q: Why is someone who is feeling great ‘on cloud nine’? A: Types of clouds are numbered according to the altitudes they attain, with nine being the highest cloud. If someone is said to be on cloud nine, that person is floating well above worldly cares.
